Thomas the Tank
Thomas Jones saw his career get off to a slow start following being drafted in the first round by Arizona in the 2000 NFL Draft. Due to injuries and a split backfield, Jones tenure with Arizona was short lived and he soon was shipped off to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a trade in 2003. While he was able to remain on the healthy side of things with the Bucs, he still was in a limited role and left the Tampa Bay area for Chicago following the 2003-04 season.
Finally in 2004, Jones saw time as the main back in Chicago and was finally given an opportunity to show off what he could do. He went on to spend three years in Chicago before moving to join the New York Jets where he just completed his third seasons.
Jones has emerged as a solid, reliable and productive back, putting up 1,000 yards or more in each of the past five seasons. In addition, Jones has been a lethal threat in the red zone with 27 touchdowns in the past two seasons. As Jones’ career moves forward, he seems to keep improving as the 2009-10 seasons set career-highs for the running back in rushing yards (1,402) and rushing touchdowns (14).
