Shutdown
Take note NFL wide receivers: when you play the New York Jets, you may find yourself stranded on Revis Island.
Ever since being selected by the Jets in the 2007 NFL Draft, Darrelle Revis has been arguably the best corner in the modern NFL game and possibly the best at shutting down an opponent’s passing game before it even has a chance to develop. Through just three seasons at the NFL level, Revis is already compiling a resume that can strike fear in any offense that takes on the Jets. Revis snagged six interceptions in the 2009 season to go along with eight picks he hauled in through the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Once he picks the ball, Revis becomes a running threat and has proven that he is more than capable to post a big return or a score – a feat he has accomplished twice through his first three years.
Revis appears to be improving as he gains more experience at the NFL level, and was awarded with his second Pro Bowl selection following the 2009 regular season. As several noteworthy receivers (Ochocinco, TO, Moss and Colston) found out this season, Revis Island can be a very quiet and unproductive place.
