Big Ben
Ben Roethlisberger, also known as “Big Ben,” is the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted in by the Steelers in 2004 as the 11th overall pick. Before Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger was the starting quarterback for Miami University (Oxford, Ohio).
As a rookie, Big Ben went 13-0 in the regular season. He also took the Steelers to the playoffs that year, finishing with a 14-1 record. After his rookie season, Roethlisberger was the first quarterback in 34 years to be honored with the NFL Offensive Rookie Award. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the following year Roethlisberger became the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl. In only his second season, he and his team defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
In 2007, he was invited to his first Pro Bowl. The year after that, Big Ben led the Steelers to another Super Bowl victory this time defeating the Arizona Cardinals. It was the franchise’s second Super Bowl in four seasons.
Currently, Big Ben ranks seventh all-time in NFL passer rating (89.4) and yards per attempt (7.86) among quarterbacks with a minimum of 1,500 career attempts.
